Trending: Neon

Neon has been popping up everywhere and I love it because I'm really into bold colors. Take a look at some of these pics for inspiration.

Neon is really good for color blocking or mixing with pastels. Don't be afraid to be LOUD this season. Later loves <3

Fashion, Style, My Life & Blogging

Hello all! So you guys know I love Q&A posts and I found another cute one! Enjoy my blog dolls!

1. What fashion trend from the past do you look back and laugh at?
JERSEY DRESSES! Eeew, they were so... GHETTO! Blehh and I had like 5 of them *yikes*
2. What current trend do you think is overrated?
Going natural! If you are going to do it, do it because you want healthy hair. Don't do it just to jump on the bandwagon OR because you want to heckle the relaxed girls. That's lame.
3. What is one trend that you would like to see come back?
Anything from the 80s! Yall can laugh at me all you want! I love big hair, big jewelry, neon colors. Ahhh the gaudiness of it all!
4. What fashion item do you most want right now?
SUEDE WEDGES IN EVERY COLOR! I am not good at walking in heels, but I desperately need to get out of always wearing flats. Wedges are the next best thing. I ordered a few yesterday and I can't wait for them to come in!
5. What is a fashion piece you hate to wear?
HEELS! But I'm trying to change.
6. If you got stranded on a deserted island, what 3 fashion items would you bring and why?
1. A fedora to protect my face and hair from the harsh sun.
2. Sparkly Sperrys just because their cute! LOL *wishlist item*
3. A cool, white button down for fashion and I could use it to make a sail on a raft!

1. What is your favorite designer clothing brand?
It is a tie between Forever21 and Asos because they make trendy clothes for curvy gals like me :)
2. What are your favorite places to shop?
3. Do you have any shopping tips?
Before I go shopping I always have an idea in mind. It also helps to go online and look at what inventory stores have. Find a fashion muse and Google pics of them to get ideas (I Google Kim K *of course*). And if all else fails bring a more fashionable friend along and be RECEPTIVE to advice.
4. What kinds of jeans do you prefer (bootcut, straight, etc)?
Skinny jeans!
5. What is your favorite and least favorite shoe?
My favorite shoes right now are loafers, least favorite are stilettos! Yikes my feet just can't handle that kind of torture.
6. What do you prefer: stripes or florals? Why?
Florals definitely because it's classy and girly like me.
7. Who is your style icon?
Of course, KIM KARDASHIAN! Our style is so similar because she is always classy and trendy at the same time. Plus we both LOVEEE blazers! I also feel like Kim knows what works for her, she is trendy but she isn't going to stray to far from her "look" and I'm the same way.
8. Many people seem to think places like Abercrombie, Hollister and Aeropastle are bad places to shop because people who shop there have "no sense of style." What's your opinion?
Those stores aren't my cup of tea (they were my favorites in jr high though) but if it works for you go for it.

1. What is your dream job?
I am in the process of receiving a degree in Political Science now so I would LOVE to one day be a political analyst on CNN. I have a lot to say, and I'm very opinionated so I think it'd be the perfect job for me. Of course I want to be a lawyer and hopefully one day I can run for Congress or the Senate! I hope to one day stack enough money to open up my own boutique. My options are endless!
2. What's your biggest accomplishment so far?
I am currently beginning my JUNIOR YEAR of college *Hallelujah*! I am so proud of myself for not giving up and sticking it out even when it got tough.
3. If you could travel anywhere in the world where would it be and why?
Paris, because it is so romantic <3
4. What is your favorite TV show?
-The Kardashians
-Anything from the 90s
-Real Housewives/Basketball Wives etc
-Law & Order: SVU
5. If you could have only one hair product to use (excluding shampoo/conditioner) what would it be?
Paul Mitchell serum, I like shiny hair.

1. When did you start blogging?
APRIL 12, 2012! Almost 500 followers and over 14,000 views I'm just amazed at how much support my blog has gotten.
2. Why did you start blogging?
I thought it would be fun to have my own blog and do it my way and just show the world ASHLEY!
3. How did you come up with the name of your blog?
I knew I wanted my name to be in it, and I just thought "Fashion Guru" sounded cool. I didn't put much thought into it at all actually.
4. How different do you think your life would be if you weren't a blogger?
I think blogging has made me a little more social and it is a stress reliever for me. But I don't think my life is dramatically different or anything.
5. What is your blogging pet peeve?
THAT STUPID SPAM CRAP AT THE END OF LEAVING A COMMENT! Ugh it's obnoxious, no one is trying to spam you. Remove it. Please and thank you.
6. What advice do you have for someone trying to start a blog?
-Use Blogger, I think it is better than Wordpress
-Make it original. Search for a unique background, add pictures. Just make sure it doesn't look like EVERYONE else's.
-The font is SO important I hate when people have this big block of tiny writing, it is much easier for people to read if it is spaced out.
-Let your readers know who YOU are, they will feel like you guys are friends!
-Add the GFC link to your blog. I hate when people ask me to follow them and they DON'T have this. Also make your presence known. Follow other blogs that you find cool and leave them sweet comments. Us bloggers love that! Eventually your followers will go up, up, up.
-Have a variety of posts! I try to mix it up with makeup, fashion, hauls, outfit posts, face posts, about me etc.

I hope this was an enjoyable post to read! I love these things. Later my loves!

Back to School Makeup Essentials

I did a post on back to school fashion a few weeks ago, now it's time for one on makeup. Check out my essentials list :)

A girl can't be fab without her eyeliner. And the best thing about it is there are so many different kinds.

I use this eyeliner like DAILY! It's just that good. If you are looking for a cheap liquid eyeliner this one is it!
No other gel eyeliner can do what MAC does. The pigment is so, so, dark! Ahh I love it so much. If you have trouble using liquid eyeliner this will give you that cat-eye effect without the messy clean up.
For my gals who like pencil eyeliner this is the ideal drugstore brand! It is very pigmented and goes on smoothly. I LOVE THE TURQUOISE ONE!

Lipgloss. Lipgloss. Lipgloss. Every girl's favorite item.

This lipgloss is comparable to any department store brand. I take a tube with me everywhere I go. There are many other drugstore lipglosses but this one is the best, buy it in every color!
NYX is a favorite for every makeup guru because it is department store quality but at a drugstore price. These lipglosses are so pigmented that it looks kind of like shiny lipstick.
I know this isn't lipgloss but I had to put it on the list! This lip butter is sooooo nourishing and pigmented. And the colors are lovely.

Plump up those eyelashes girly! Your makeup is not complete without big, bold eyelashes.

I have been using this mascara a lot lately and I definitely see a difference. It creates volume and lengthens.

The all time favorite mascara! This pink and green mascara is not only cute but it really works and it's CHEAP. You can't beat that.

This item is sooo pricey but if you can afford it BUY IT! You will really think that you are wearing fake eyelashes. I had gotten a sample of it a long time ago and it was heaven. I need to buy another one ASAP.

Eyeshadow is the most fun makeup item because you can experiment with so many different looks.

Another makeup junkie favorite. I have been meaning to buy my own for some time now. Not only are the colors super pigmented you get 88 for under $20. You can buy your own at or

When I first began to get into makeup in high school I bought these trios and they are lovely. They are very pigmented and cheap. At Ulta they usually have a buy one get one half off sale.

Aren't these colors beautiful? Milani is known for their bold pigmentation and their eyeshadows do not disappoint. They have other eyeshadows but their baked ones are the best.

Yall know I'm a blush junkie! This is my favorite category because blush really does make a difference.

MAC is known for their fabulous blush, but their most impressive is the mineralize blush. It is so beautiful and you get so many hints of color in one compact. It is a little pricey but it's worth it and will last a long time.

Revlon really is the BEST drugstore makeup brand. Their new cream blushes are just gorgeous and I love the sophisticated packaging. A trick I use with cream blush is I take a Q-tip and stick it in the compact and put some on my hand; then I apply it with a stipple brush. This technique will give you more of an airbrushed look.

Yep, another Milani product! What can I say, they have some great stuff. They are beautiful and a great dupe for the MAC Mineralize blushes.

Foundation can be a little too much fuss for some girls but EVERY girl should own a good face powder. In my opinion you should splurge on your face products more than any other makeup item, so my picks on the list might be a little pricier than the previous lists.

My life is not complete without my MAC Powder. It gives just enough coverage without looking cakey, it feels light on my skin and it has never broken me out. Invest in this product, it is the bomb and it lasts a long time.

Bare Minerals is so luxe. It gives you such an airbrushed look because the powder is loose. Next time you see their counter go have an assistant try some on you, I promise you won't be disappointed.

I like Physician's Formula because they really consider the health of your skin when formulating their products. This powder is lightweight but will provide you with the coverage you desire.

Every girl doesn't wear foundation but I know some of you do so take a look at some of my favorite picks.

I know what you guys are thinking, it is expensive but it is SO worth it. I have been using it lately and my makeup has never looked better. And it's Chanel I mean what girl doesn't love Chanel? Full review coming soon.

OK I have combination skin, so after an hour my T-Zone is usually oily. Not with this foundation! I did a review on this product a couple of weeks ago and I still love it. You also get a lot of product for the price.

Last but not least this product is lovely! It's not oily or cakey and the price is just the icing on the cake. I also love the packaging because it reminds me of Makeup Forever HD foundation. If you are into drugstore makeup this is the best foundation you will find.

Well that concludes my list! I tried to give a variety of prices for everyone's budget. Enjoy shopping divas. Until next time <3

My Favorite Ladies from the 90s

OK you guys I am OBSESSED with the 90s! Of course I'm a 90s baby so that makes sense but it is literally all I watch. My DVR is full of Boy Meets World, Full House etc. I don't know those shows just make me happy and take me back to a time in my life where everything made sense.

I was feeling all nostalgic and thought why not do a post honoring some of my favorite ladies from the 90s!

Ahh Sabrina! She is one of my favorite (and is also on my DVR). She was sweet, pretty and a witch. I always thought she was so cool and I loved Salem. I still want a cat to this day so I can name him Salem. And who can forget Sabrina + Harvey <3

SISTER, SISTER! Lol, Tia and Tamera were a mess! I can hear them now saying, "Go home Roger!" This was another cute 90s classic. They are both still just as lovable and beautiful as before.

Saved by the Bell always reminds me of my cousins because after school we would always watch it and fight over who got to be Kelly! Who didn't want to be Kelly? She was pretty, nice and she was a cheerleader! AND she had Zack Morris, I still have a crush on him. Mhmmm.

As a kid I always wanted to live with the Banks family. Hilary was such a fashionista and Ashley was always the sweet one. The Fresh Prince of Bel Air is one of the best shows... ever.

*Everywhere you look, everywhere is a heart, is a heart, a hand to hold on to you...* I had to do it! D.J. was the older sister that I always wanted. I would have loved to spend a day in the Tanner home.

OK Boy Meets World is like my whole childhood, it is one of me and my Dad's favorite shows. I loved Topanga, Cory, Feeny, EVERYBODY! It was just such a good show and it brings back so many memories.

I hope you guys enjoyed this trip down memory lane, I certainly did. What were some of your favorite shows from the 90s? Let me know. Bye guys!
